great pics - did you get many fish? they look a reasonable size - were the boats available or have they gone as intimated in other posts - shame if they have as it will limit the areas that you can access.

Wozzer

Pleased you had a good time

I also Caught my first Bonefish in " Junanitos Hotspot Lagoon location " -

Please keep exact location a secret - usual " SWFF rule " overfishing and protect Juanitos livelyhood !

PS - Reply to PM

I told him you had recommended him to me and he sends his best wishes.

I gave him Trout and Salmon magazine and he said one of the funniest things...

"I dont like Salmon they dont have a face, Bonefish have a pretty face"!! *

When you think about it they dont!

* I have to agree - bonefish although if I had to choose

I would rather be Fly for salmon fishing " with a Double hander "
than Trying to Spot the elusive Bonefish

Juanito - Top guy - Took him 2 days to show me how to Spot the elusive Bonefish !

I asked about boats and there didn't seem to be any (at least of the small variety) as I wanted to look for Tarpon.

There was a fishing boat that would take you out for Barracuda etc but that was 400cc a day.

It seems that boats are a carefully monitored resource in Cuba for obvious reasons.

On the Bonefish, it took a short while but then your eyes wisen up and you start spotting Bones all over the place but after lunch they seem to go off the feed and are almost impossible to catch!

With regard to the lagoon I don't think I could find it again anyway!

sixth sense ! - in my limited experience Feeding period coincides with 1-2 hours around high tide - you just need watch out for increased no of small fish/ crabs emerging from the sand !! - hey presto the bonefish appear !!

Default Reels

Nice pics,

How did you find the bonefish regarding the strain on your reel. First time I caught one it trashed an expensive Lamson reel I had abought for the occasion.

My Okuma airframe handled it no probs.
Juanito gave itthe thumbs up before we started!

I stayed at the Melia Cayo Coco.

Get a lagoon room, worth the extra, lovely place, food poor.
