Default Rudd or Roach on the Fly?

Click the image to open in full size.

Can someone tell me for quick reference is this a Rudd or a Roach as it was my first of 7 on the fly last weekend on a silver spider fished down and across. Caught what I think is Rudd a while back larger and more of an orange tinge. If someone can set me strait, would be great.

Tightlines,

J.

Looks like a roach to me, Rudd often have bright red fins but the main way to tell is they have upturned mouths

I think its a roach/rudd hybred
Too silver to be a Rudd, Too red in the fins to be a Roach

They are common in certain waters, ****** me thats no explanation at all. Try again, they are common in waters like the lower Bann and parts of the Shannon, where in fact they are highly sought after, the bream/rudd or the bream/roach is most common and a better fighter than either parent species. I caught a lot during my brief foray into course fishing, but i found that there numbers would flucuate every few years so I dont think they are able to spawn perhaps they are like mules. Your fish is definetly not a rudd, do i think it might be a hybrid as stated earlier. In fact if you get a few more of them they make lovely [cough]trolling bait[/cough] for pike or trout,,,just saying thats all

Hibrids are quite common and feature regularly in match anglers bags (im talking about coarse fishing obviosly)
