that's a result! I failed to hook one when in Tobago, though there were definately 'juvy's' around up to 30lb in amongst the mangroves. Lord know's what I'd have done if i'd actually connected with one of that size on 8wt gear though!!! Still, he who dares.....

Default re: cayo guillermo tarpon

I had hits from similar sized young tarpon outside the cigar bar at the nh krystal, cayo coco they were cruising under the fixed lights pointed on the water from the cigar bar around the mangroves nightly but unfortunately the hook didnt set on the 2 times i had hits, One was on the fly & another hit using a small popper on a heavy saltwater spinning rod set-up. Did you manage to fish the flats by cayo coco marina or the old broken bridge i believe is called la pasa as the flats have plenty of bones & the la pasa has plenty of barracuda, permit, tarpon, snapper etc..

Good places to go though if you want to do some very cheap diy tarpon & bonefishing as they seem to be everywhere hey?

Is your airflo balance reel suitable for swff then & what type of fly did you find most productive??? Also what make & weight rod, line etc.. Did you use i am interested to know. Did you land any bigger ones & what month where you there?? Thanks in advance!
