Default River Nith at Closeburn

I was lucky enough to get 2 days fishing at Closeburn Castle Estate after winning the auction for the Gracie House appeal, to fish for sea trout and grilse. On arrival i met David Byers the river keeper who suggested i came back at night if i wanted sea trout, or fish by day for trout and grayling. So this is what i decided to do,
Monday at beat 2;

caught loads of Parr and small brown trout,

then came my first ever Grayling (measured 14 inches)..followed by another 3.

Had a great day, but decided to go with lighter tackle for Tuesday,

then came across a deep pool and put on a goldhead PTN and got this;

It was the 2 best days river fishing i have had for years..hope you enjoy the pics!
Thanks to Barrie Davies at Linsley Bros in Harrogate and Ian Woods for all their help.
Cheers Diarmid.

Nice pics Diarmid, well done.
I should have been up there on the 9/10/11 with SKB, but we couldn't manage it.
Hope whoever bought it does as well as you.

You will be missing a great opportunity..i must have caught approx 50 fish over the 2 days. I still have a permit for tomorrow on beat 1..but can`t make it due to work commitments.

cheers Diarmid.
