Aaaah! We have similar lamps in the unused stables, each has a nest on top. Did you need a ladder to stand on to take the top photo?

There are so many returning swallows this year that one pair has had to nest in the coalshed (they tried to nest just above the car, but we shut the garage door and opened the coal chute cover a few inches instead. They were livid but eventually accepted the alternative).

I'm watching a greenfinch on the seeding bluebells outside as I type. Good excuse not to tidy them up!

Hi Kevin

Oh yes, Thursday.... not entirely sure I'm looking forward to the whole blanking/ fishing thing, but at least the new flies will be inspiring, won't they?

The river levels here are low; it's trying to rain at the moment but we need a deluge.

Anyhow, looking forward to meeting you and Ian and Gary 'n' all..

Trish
