Fantastic photos of some really lovely fish, Cap'n! Thoroughly enjoyed them.

I think that the "Where would one put the outboard?" boat on Loch Eye may have been made in Shetland in the 1970's. A series of replicas of a (I think) Shetland fourareen were made by Thulecraft and there are still a few kicking about up here. My old man converted a wooden fourareen to have that same type of outboard well and I couldn't understand how a boat with a big hole in it could possibly float!

Aye, we could see the well, and see how it might be where the motor should go, but we couldn't see where you would clamp the bracket - maybe there was something that had been removed. It would need to be a wee 2 HP 2-stroke if anything, and Eye only allows electrics, and you certainly wouldn't get the big gearbox of a leccy down the well

Up until recently Eye was rowing only, and I am sure the boat is simply left over from those days.

The well would be good for doing a "glass-bottom boat" type view of the bottom, except the water was quite minty when we were there.
