Default Orkney

Here's a few shots from our recent trip to Orkney (Midlander, Wee Jim, Cap'n Fishy, Stewart01 and Dougie). I didn't shoot half as many pics as I should have done... the fishing kinda got in the way! Anyway, hope the shots I did take give you a little taste of Orkney in late June........

Cheers Stu, BK. 'Twas indeed a dream trip... we were well and truly blessed with the weather.. I doubt we'd get so lucky again if we went every year for the next 50 years - which we may just do! It wasn't always perfect fishing weather, but then again, it was never grim. We were seriously lucky with the evenings. Every single night, the wind dropped and we got an evening rise of some description... and some serious sensets!

Hi Numps, we hit the top of Caithness in about 9 hours, taking it relatively easy and depending on your luck with traffic etc. Best to give yourself about 10 hours though if you have women/kids on board wanting to stop for wee-wees and to buy copies of Hello magazine etc. The Gills ferry only take an hour or so, the Scabster ferry takes a little longer - but you do get to to see the old Man of Hoy on the Scrabster/Stromness route.
