Default Philip Gardner

Hi,

I have recently acquired a framed water colour (almost certainly a print) called Fisherman by Philip Gardner. I bought it for a bargain 20 euros, just fell in love with it.

it is of a fly fisherman casting whilst wading.

Can anyone shed any light on the artist please?, there is very little information available on the web.

I live in Morbihan, Southern Brittany in France and my wife and I spend a lot of time in the depot ventes (glorified flea markets) and it is surprising what you can find and at incredibly good prices. I recently bought a small pewter tray with the figure of a fly fisherman casting, the work on the figure is very detailed another bargain at 4 euros.

Dave

Philip Gardner 1922 - 1986

As well as the much-loved Norfolk scenery, Philip Gardner painted London street scenes, poignant figure studies, and skilful impressions of sports such as cricket, golf, squash, racing and fishing. His pictures are avidly collected across the world, and are included in the personal collections of three members of the Royal Family.

Google should turn up more.....
