Default Best Fish of 2010?

Which was your best fish of 2010? I don't necessarily mean your biggest fish of the year, but rather the fish you enjoyed catching the most.

I'll start:

Eglinton River, South Island NZ
Caught on a humpy blowfly (blue bottle)
Reason: (1) first trout to take me into my backing! (2) the beautiful setting (3) it was caught on a short lunch stop on the way to Milford Sound - I only had a few minutes to try a few casts and wasn't expecting to connect with anything.

That is a nice fish for a quick stop!
This is my best fish this year, not huge but my first good fish from the Ohau Chanel in Rotorua and my first good fish on my Switch rod.

This is my fattest fish of the year, also on the Switch rod but from the Tongariro.

All the best.

My most enjoyable catch of 2010 was this Brown Trout from the River Clyde, 10 minutes into my first trip of the season in early April. A day to remember as this was the first of two i caught that day, both were a similar size.

This boyo (visible just in front of my leader) lives under that wee bush in this Slovenian River, and eats Elk Hair Caddis for lunch

He turned out to be a 2.5 lb Marble Trout, not a biggie, but my first, so sticks in the memory

This rainbow was the fish that has left me with the fondest memories this year. It is certainly not the biggest trout I have had this year but was caught on a glorious Summer's day fishing for wild trout with my Dad, it turned out to be by far the most enjoyable days fishing of the year and this fish was the cream on the cake!

What a difficult question! I had some great days, many in the company of other forumites. An early spring day on a wild mountain stream in Wales with Mostyn and Gareth when I caught a fish on a dry right at the end of the session, to our collective relief! Two days with Ade on a couple of small Glamorgan rivers. A day on the best river in Yorkshire (don't ask) courtesy of Grayson when I had 19, 5 of them grayling over 1lb. Days with Frank and John Tyzak learning how it should be done! A day in a tight gorge on the Durham Derwent thanks to Yorkio, exhausting and fantastic. A few hours with Malcolm and Taniwha on the Salisbury waters. A freezing cold day with Sabsman on the Arrow for one fish, a 2.5lb grayling. A lot to choose from!

The best though? We rebted a cottage in the Vale of Pickering which had 200 yards of the Yorkshire Dove in the grounds. Chatted to the owner, not fished much they said, don't think there's a lot in there. I gave it a whirl, 10 fish in an hour, good solid trout and grayling. This was the first and probably the one I enjoyed catching most this year.

Best wishes

Peter

This bruiser may not be the biggest trout I caught this season, but he was one of the bonniest. He came lurching out of 12 inches of water after a nymph twitched past his lie.......and went absolutely bonkers in the shallow water. You never stop learning in this game!
