Default Calling all Talk Photography members

Since getting my DSLR I've gotten all photo nerdy and joined up Talk Photography.

There is a portrait comp running at the moment, and it's turned into more of a popularity contest than anything else with people joining just to vote - it's nowhere near as well organised as Scratches nymph comp, it's not even held blind. Bizarely the wife wants to win a picture of herself

If you could find your way to having a look and voting here;

Votes on the SOOC COMP..!!!! - Talk Photography

I obviously don't want to cloud your judgement* but my user name is Irelanst on there

Cheers - Steve

* That's a blatant lie, I'm only posting here to try and scrape a vote or 2 more.

Great pic's Gary; the strength of character in your wife's face glows in those B/W photos.

Wisdom and life experience shines through.

It does seem a bit of a mutual appreciation society for 'working' photographers. It seems the simplest way to get good comments about your pics is to say they were taken with a fast prime on a full frame camera, lit with Lencarta lights in your own studio .

Cheers Fred, the wife saw your reply and thought you meant she was looking old. She gets a bit sensitive about that since life started quite a few years ago now!!!!!! I did tell her that I was sure that wasn't what you were implying .

Thanks again, Steve

For what its worth, I was once a staff pro. Looking through that page, your potraits stood out from the rest by a country mile (except for the staffie dog, I like dogs ). Your missus must be thrilled to bits.

I was a bit concerned by the phots of young lady showing thigh with dog though!

Thanks for the kind words, the wife was pleased with the results although I think she would have prefered a little 'glamour' treatment in photoshop!

Just looked through the results Steve, as Dartmoor says, yours absolutely p!ssed it. The ones above you were a pile of pants, even from the so called 'experts'. None of them were half as interesting as yours, and technically nowt to write home about either. All the top three were dull as dishwater. God know what goes through the minds of the voters on there

You mean you lingered on her thighs? Your problem.
