The reviews seem good.

Who's actually fished with one then?

I've been using these for boat fishing and sewin fishing for most of 2010 and generally I have been pleased with them. I bought my first new, then two two extra spools and finally picked up another used version from a forumite so that I now have two reels and 6 spare spools which does me for my line options.

As far as the reel goes it is absolutely fine and I find it as good as any other cassette option that I have tried in the past. It is light for its size, it has a good spool diameter and holds a WF7 plus a good amount of backing, (it will just take a WF8 and backing if required) and is pleasant enough to use.

My only real (sorry about the pun) gripe is that the nice looking and robust presentation case is actually a waste of space unless you just want one reel and two spools. Any other combination makes it virtually obsolete and my two cases are currently not used as I need to have a total of two reels and six spools in my reel case.

On balance I am happy that I have have finally found a cassette system that I can work with and represents good value for the money.

Prior to it being pinched, I wasn't too keen...I found that the spool "slipped" a little when playing fish which was a tad frustrating....I reloaded the backing and line a couple of times but it made no difference so I don't know if it was me or the reel itself. The reel itself looked the part and the weight was excellent but I have gone back to my old Orvis Rocky Mountain. The case is a bit pointless and doesn't accommodate enough spools etc for the serious angler.

my first one i bought the paint chipped and fell off with the slightest of bumps , and rubbing off on my hands when putting it onto the rod, also found paint in the lid of my bag which holds the reel , spools.
it was replaced by the shop i bought it from , jubilee lakes ( anglers lodge ). but after a few outings with my second reel i noticed the spool would not fully click into place and slipped when pulling line off or reeling line back on.
i think i have that sorted not tried since, but i really dont want to replace this one as i have had it some time and it has hardly been used. never dropped it so i doubt it is my fault.
bit disappointed in Wychwood really because most of my other gear is Wychwood and never had a problem with quality etc. but the most expensive thing i buy from them and i have problems with.
