Default Bluefin Tuna reaches record price

The newspapers and internet have been alive yesterday with news of a Bluefin Tuna weighing nearly 600lb sold in a Japanese fish market for a world record price of £472,000 or in other words £792 per lb.

Destined for the high-grade sushi market the owner of the chain of sushi restaurants who bought the fish says he will sell it to his patrons at the normal market rate as a gift to help them get over their hardships of the last year.

Experts believe these prices will only get higher as the stock of these giant fish continues to dwindle due to overfishing while the demand for the premium fatty belly meat called o-toro continues with fans prepared to pay ever-higher prices.

Perhaps they can finish off the panda's after they've made the blue-fin extinct, apparently they taste yummy too.

It's a shame that tuna is valued so highly - if it was worth **** all no one would chase them............ pity we can't get the price of salmon down and that might stop the netting.............
