Correct, my thoughts exactly. The guy was right in saying that in high water they will only be spinning from that bank anyway. There's trees directly in line with the decking structure, why don't they cut down the trees and free up a bit more casting room, if they really need it that is?
My take is the anglers just decided to get uppity and once again flexed their muscles whilst cocking their legs and pissing on the decking to hammer home the point that it's 'our' river, not yours.
We've bought out the nets, stopped old men catching minnow in a bottle with their young grandsons

, thrown boulders at canoeists, and now stopped a local landowner from enjoying the river with friends on a warm summer evening whilst supping a vintage bubbly.

What a missed opportunity for anglers to have someone directing their flies over an (clearly visible from the high vantage point) salmon lying in the stream.
What a missed opportunity to promote their fishery with unusual photographs and video footage, shot from the high vantage point. Would have made some darn nice viewing.
Just my tuppenceworth though.
