Is anybody spending this amount of money on rods these days?

Often wonder how many units of the Loomis NRX rods shift at £750 for a 9ft 5weight.

I think there a bit late off the mark.. John Norris had these on sale
about three months ago, Then sportfish followed suit

Hmmm. These rods (and most for that matter) tend to be vastly cheaper with John Norris when stock is being cleared. The Z Axis was discounted in summer by them and then Sportfish but Norris - significant at these prices - undercut the others by a huge margin on their sale prices.

The Hardy Marksman is a good example too. Norris have a few left at 50% off. Last time I checked nobody else was even discounting. They are clearly end of line now and I know it is a business's right to sell at a price that they want but... when someone sells a premium rod at 50% off (while no doubt still making a profit) and nobody else discounts it leaves a little bit of a bad taste.

No such thing as a free lunch but when there is such variance in premium rod prices even when discounted I'm afraid I don't see £430 as great news when they have been available for around a hundred less. And the Z Axis at Sportfish has been sticking around for some months now at £430-ish, as has the Sage 99 at £470-ish. These were sold very quickly by Norris and Stockport Fly Fishing very quickly for far less, which proves businesses can still make a profit, get rid of stock more quickly and the consumer is - on the brink of another recession - very happy.

Does this not go to show, just how much tackle dealers & manufactures are ripping us off for, in the first place.
