Very wise 21 points from Anttonnen.

The Bomber or Pompero is the go-to item for the St Johns, Restigouche,Mirimanchi and I guess Finland or where Mr Pompero fishes.....
Apart from the Yellow Dolly does anyone fish these dries here in the UK ? Do they work? How + when?

I've spoken about this with angling friends and no one has the balls to try dry fly fishing for salmon.

Certainly in the Hebridean lochs - muddlers and bibios (etc) skated in the waves work really well. Big dapped flies too. We once had a grilse take the muddler as it hung just in the surface film in a flat calm - while we were chatting!

But I have never tried the hitch or the bomber in the UK. Perhaps next year!

I gave the Bomber a go this season for the first time. I have to admit that I only did it out of curiosity after all the threads that were flying around the forums about it.

I didn't catch on it, however I did get a rise, although a little halfhearted.

I will definitely be giving it a lot more goes next season.
