Default Junior shines at the Scottish Game Fair

Alexander Braithwaite-Exley took not just one but three junior titles earlier this month in the GWCT Scottish Game Fair fishing competitions.

Three days of glorious Perthshire sunshine ensured a record turnout at the Fair which was held from 1-3 July. Just under 37,000 visitors gathered in the grounds of Scone Palace on the banks of the River Tay to enjoy Scotland’s biggest game fair, many of them taking part in the varied fly casting competitions on offer or admiring the skills of the expert demonstrators at the Orvis Fly Casting Clinic. Fisherman’s Row welcomed thousands of fishermen and women who enjoyed searching for bargains in the many trade stands and ested and compared rods, reels and lines. The fishing area is jointly sponsored by The Kenmore Hotel and Orvis UK.

Many people commented on the relaxed, happy atmosphere of the event which now looks to its 24th year of operation. Dates for the 2012 event are 29, 30 June and 1st July.

Not sure if Saturday's salmon distance winner is correct.
