ORGANISERS of the GWCT Scottish Game Fair are delighted to announced new attractions for the 2011 event to be held on 1-3 July in the grounds of Scone Palace.
Water Zorbing has arrived at the Fair! For those not in the know, water zorbing (provided by the WoW Experience) is basically walking on water. You step into a giant clear plastic ball filled with fresh air which is then sealed with an airtight zip. You’re then free to run, jump, roll and balance on water.
If water’s not your thing then a thrilling ride in a helicopter might be. Visitors can book in for a 15 minute helicopter ride with HJS Helicopters and enjoy spectacular views of the Perthshire countryside before returning to the Fair grounds.
Back on terra firma, The Fife Foxhounds and the Glenappin Foxhounds will be welcomed to this year’s event and will provide a lively and interesting spectacle. It has been many years since foxhounds have appeared at the Fair and it will be an excellent opportunity for visitors to find out a bit more about these hard working dogs and their history.
The Fife Foxhounds are one of the most northerly packs of hounds in Scotland and have been in existence for over 200 years. Some of the most illustrious names in the history of hunting in Scotland have been associated with Fife. The Fife pack, together with the Hunt Master on horseback, will be in attendance in the main ring on Friday and Sunday. The Glenappin Foxhounds which are a foot pack, will join the event on Saturday.
Katy Cropper, Britain’s foremost dog handling and sheepdog training specialist, is a new performer to the Scottish Game Fair. The first woman to win One Man and His Dog, Katy has been bringing the best out of her animals for over 28 years and will encourage younger members of the audience to assist with her main ring show which includes a variety of farmyard animals. Katy will perform on all three days.
We’re also delighted to welcome the return of the Scottish Women’s Rugby team to compete against the Young Farmer’s ladies in the tug o’ war. This novel competition takes place on Sunday afternoon.
