This event was sponsored by Hardy Greys and Northumbrian Water

Anglers entering this annual prestigious event endured some challenging conditions as they were greeted on the morning of the event with a fine but very windy day.

Despite this competitors enjoyed some tremendous sport from all areas of the reservoir achieving a competition average of 5.6 fish per angler.

This was exceptional on the day and was a testimony to both the angler’s skill and the fine form the fishery is in at present.

Peter Crowe took the honours in the fly section fishing at Millshields finding some quality fish keen to take any small black flies. Peter also won the heaviest fish section with a fine fish of 6lb 9oz.

Bait anglers found the bank between the first and second fence along with the bank between Pow Hill and Hunter House offering a lot of good fish. The winner of this section was Doug Pearson fishing at Hunter House who netted his 8 prize winning fish on the spinner. The competition ended with the majority of anglers weighing in some fine catches commenting on the excellent quality and sizes of the fish caught throughout the day.

Despite the less than ideal weather conditions limiting the number of entries this year the magnificent sum £700 was raised for WaterAid. We would like to thank all of those who entered and Hardy Greys for their part in making the day a huge success.
