Icelandic Salmon Center to Open This Summer
The Icelandic Salmon Center, an exhibition and educational center about the Icelandic salmon, is set to open in Blönduós, northwest Iceland, this summer. Preparations are well underway.
The center will contain information on salmon fishing rivers, the history of salmon fishing and research. It will be located inside an old shrimp processing plant in the town, ruv.is reports.
“The Salmon Center is thought of as a living exhibition with salmon. We are also planning to have research facilities and a service center for anglers,” said the center’s project leader, Valgardur Hilmarsson.
He described the center as unique as there are probably only two comparable salmon centers in the world, in Canada and Norway. It is therefore likely to attract tourists, anglers and families, he reasoned.
