Default Fishing in Ireland

I will be in Ireland in early October and would like to do a day of stream trout fishing. I would like to find a lodge that I can stay at in an area where my wife has a small town close by to do shopping an site seeing.
I any ideas, let me know.

thank you

Hello and welcome to the forum. The only place in the Republic where you can fish is in either Cork or Kerry as the season closes every where else on the 30Th of September and on the 12Th of October on Cork/ Kerry.

You don't mention if you'll be North or South of the Border. If North, most of the Loughs Agency waters don't close until October 20th. Close to good shopping in Derry/Londonderry, Strabane, Coleraine etc

Comprehensive downloadable guide to the rivers and lakes here which includes details of accommodation as well

The River Fane near Dundalk closes mid October bbqbrisket and is worth a visit. Lovely river with a great stock of brownies.
