Default Lough Conn

There should be some good fishing to be had on Conn in July. After a lack of rain all year, it looks like we are going to get more than our fair share over the next few weeks. The lake has got its first fresh water since Christmas after the longest dry spell in living memory. This should bring on a late hatch of Mayfly as the hatch so far has been very poor. Was down on the lake shore this afternoon and I saw more Mayfly coming in off the lake in 5 minutes than I did at anytime in May.

Traditionally the end of July has been one of the most consistent times of the year to fish Conn imo, so hopefully 2010 will be no different.Click the image to open in full size.

The Klinkhammer Kid with a nice one from Massbrook point last Friday evening. The trout must have had poor taste in fly presentation or maybe his eye sight wasn't great

Will get back to you on that this evening....the boss man is heading out. From what I have heard there is some decent hatches of flies and a lot of 12-13 inch fish been caught. Plenty of action but the bigger ones are harder to move

Lots of small fish moving again yesterday. He brought out with a couple of kids yesterday evening trolling and they caught a lovely 5 pound trout but all this shows is that the larger trout are on fry.
