Default Lough Conn

Great to be able to report some cracking fishing on Lough Conn at the moment. Most of the lads that are heading out have reported some excellent fishing with some very good trout moving. There seems to be a better than average hatch of duckfly this year so maybe that is why is the bigger trout are on the move. One of over 6.5 lb was caught yesterday and the same lads had quite a few more smaller fish. Some of the other forum members have been consistently catching some nice fish over the past week or more.

Lets hope the good start continues right through the season and for the upcoming international in May.

The local club would like to encourage anglers to operate a policy of catch and release.........................and they hope to undertake improvement works on a number of the spawning streams during the coming year

Great to hear Conn fishing well. Might have to take a sick day next week and get up to fish

Where is fishing well? Or is the whole lake performing? Are people catching on wets or fishing buzzers?
I hope your dad is getting a few...

cheers
JJ

Hi JJ,

The bays have been fishing the best with the buzzers but when the wind gets up as it did yesterday the lads who did well, were pulling wets out in the open.

So it depends on the weather.

That sounds great Jungle Bunny. Have you been able to fish it all yet? I bet you've winkled a few out. I have not been able to book my trip out for this year yet - I have got my fingers crossed that I might be able to swing something for September again and get out for a week or so around then.

Great to hear that there has been some sport, and it's always interesting to read how Conn is fishing.

Great to hear from you. I hope Richard is getting ready for the international in May or has George B got him on a strict weight controlled programme yet
Ya the lake is fishing really well. It has risen about 2 feet over the past 4 days and even still the fishing has been great. Yesterday evening there was a fantastic rise of fish to duckfly within a hundred yards of where you launch from. Missing the Mayfly madness maybe no bad thing and if ye do as well as ye did last September ye will do alright

I hope you have all those killer flies kept for me for Traws this year although I dont want to say too much, but I hear the Welsh lads are leaving a lot of the best patterns behind them when the come to Conn this May

Killer flies for Traws?! You have fished Trawsfynydd more than me in recent years!

Richard is indeed in training for Conn - he is on the liquids training regime
