Thanks for sharing, Jemo. Do you or the other members know anything about the current conditions on Lough Melvin?

Hi Mike,
fished Melvin for the first time yesterday with Mike (Aka Marizon Midge). very tough going. We didn't see a fish all day or get a touch. Conditions were ok, but bloody cold. We did find a hatch of buzzers or duckfly, but couldn't get a fish to take. Interestingly there was a load of swallows feeding which we thought was a bit strange. Isn't it a bit early for swallows??

cheers
JJ

Hi JJ

Thanks for your reply. Strange that the duckfly was on but you didn't catch a fish. I'm keeping an eye on the Irish weather forecast for next week. Luckily there are going to be a few days with temperatures about 10°C, hopefully that's going to liven things a bit up.

Apparently the swallows are already feeding on duckfly, let's hope the trout will follow very soon!

Tight lines
Mike the Pike

Mask didn't fish well at all at the w/end but a friend caught some fish to 1 1/2 lb late, when it was nearly dark down the Rocky shore. They were the only trout they saw all day even though they were out since early morning.
