Hi all, In 2008 myself and a few mates decided we wanted to go target Hydrocynus Goliath on fly in the Congo Basin. Never been recorded before, I made contact with an operator in Kinshasa and we set every thing up for 15 days fishing for Goliath Tiger Fish.
Arriving in Kinshasa was interesting and soon after airport proceedures we headed to Maluku a port on the mighty Congo River. Loaded the boat and heading north west upstream, we headed into dark Africa not really knowing what to expect. To cut a long story short we had between 3 anglers, 12 takes, 3 hook ups which we lost and managed to land a 16lbs black river Goliath on a imitation (sardine) baitfish fly... we had done it!!!
Now 2 years later my silence needs to be broken, i need to catch another Goliath!!! April 15th i head north again!!!

Fishing the Brazzaville side of the river with a guide that has been fishing the river for +30yrs.... Really looking forward to seeing the mighty river again, when you learn that the river flows at over 3000 cube a second and has an average deapth of 500 feet in the lower congo, you appreciate the force nature has..... They say the Goliath could be one of the only fish able to navigate the mighty river!!
