Kenya Kikambala Report.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Went to Royal Reserve Safari for two weeks over xmas and new year for a family holiday, and took a telescopic beach caster with me, a few floats and hooks, and a few bar spoons.
The beach extends at low tide to a dead coral reef, which if the tide is low enough you can fish from the reef into the deep water beyond.
Its only possible to do this at really low tides, and unfortunately it wasnt possible for me to fish from the beach at the times when i was free to fish.
The Lagoon was very shallow, and the water very hot. I didnt see any fish in the lagoon at all!
I did scout out a very good alternative though.
Its is very easy to fish next to the bridge which crosses Mtwapa Creek.
By using the path which runs from the front of the police station, down to the river, you will find a good place to sit and fish from.
I didnt fish from here, as i didnt get the time, but the locals told me there was good fishing.
I did however take the family on a day out with
Walter Brun - Big Game Fishing - Kenya it cost me 365 euro for the boat for a day.
I caught a nice sail fish, my mother a nice dorada, my son a dorada, and the old fella caught a wahoo.
I have posted the picks on my blog
Fishing Fiend
The main reason we visited Kenya was to take my parents and son on Safari.
We arranged this via Kikambala Safaris - i was so impresssed with their service - i have written them a little web page too!
Kikambala Tours And Safaris
They were great guys, who looked after us very well. (they were also $250 PER PERSON CHEAPER THAN THE HOTEL TOUR - WHICH WENT TO THE SAME PLACES AND STAYED IN THE SAME GAME LODGES).
I enjoyed Kenya, would go back again, hopefully being able to spend more time fishing the next time i go.
