Am off to Kenya for christmas & new year and am in the process of booking up a couple of days deep sea fishing.

However, its a family holiday and SWMBO will be upset if I book more than a couple of days deep sea fishing.

She isnt bothered if i have a few hours early morning or evening though - so i was wondering if anyone can give me any information about shore fishing or renting a small boat to fish on either Kilifi or Mtwapa creeks

I have heard that fishing from the shore is not allowed as most of the coast is classed as a marine national park can anyone confirm this?

- thats why i am interested in fishing the creeks from a small boat.

It would be such a shame not to be able to take my travel rods with me.

Hi Nelson,

I don't know what the fishing is like in the creeks but I used to live just N of Mombasa. I'm not sure what the rules are today on beach fishing but the area between beach and reef is quite shallow and the snorkellers won't take too kindly to beach casters.

If you can get on one of the boats that heads down towards the Pemba Channel you'll get deep sea fishing you'll never forget.

I don't think you'll have a lot of luck on Kilifi creek but there used to be good fishing further up the coast at Lamu
