BobP is on a distinguished road
Default British Columbia

I've just returned from 3 weeks in British Columbia with the memsahib. Needless to say fishing was on the menu. I had three days on the Kispiox in search of steelhead. Conditions were tough with very low and clear water and the steelhead not there in any sort of numbers. I lost one on the first afternoon and thought I had blown it, but on the morning of day three the gods smiled and I caught a 31" fish weighing about 17lbs.

Towards the end of the holiday we ended up in the lower Fraser where I managed 35 pink salmon in two sessions with fish up to about 8lbs. There were a lot of really good hen pinks about this year for some reason and 7-8lb fish were not unusual in our catches. I rounded off the holiday with a session of sturgeon fishing and boated four. The best two went 6'4" and 6'9" and weighed in at around 120-140lbs. Those lumps can really pull your string. It's a bit like being attached to a truck!

I'm already planning a return in two years when there will be another big run of pinks and the sturgeon will be even better.

I've been to BC a couple of times, first with the wife where I managed 5 days on the Fraser and Harrison then we headed off to Vancouver Island where the emphasis somehow ended up on water?? The island was great for both of us with whales to watch and much more wildlife.
Vancouver was just up her street with plenty of shops to keep her happy.
Thoroughly recommend BC as a great destination for happy couples.

Second time I went with a mate and caught stacks of fish [no shopping]
