After a great week's fishing in may on the Corrib with tons of Mayfly, it was great to get chance to return last week.
As always I had great craic fishing with Trouthunter and Dooras, and raised plenty of fish on the dries and wets. I didn't expect easy fishing at this time of year and the trout were tricky to make contact with and we didn't boat all of them but it was still great fun.
The trip was a little sad as I was originally booked to fish with the late Rod Tye, but as if to mark the occasion this PB trout of 5lb

took a Rod Tye design reversed sooty bumble on the middle dropper whilst out with Dooras.

The best of the fishing was when the mayfly was coming off, as even now in July it was possible to find some great hatches.
I can't wait to get back to Corrib next year, I'm always made to feel very welcome and the fishing is getting better and better. I've been for the last 5yrs and can't wait to get back again. There have been lots of conflicting reports in mags about the Corrib, but everyone I have spoken to have said that Corrib has had the finest years fishing for many a year with lots of small fish showing also. I wish i could get over again in the next couple of months as everyones expecting some great sedge and daphnia fishing.
Thanks again to Trouthunter and Dooras for making it such a great few days and Corribgirl for some great hospitality.
All the best
Ben
