The missus and me are looking to holiday in the States next summer. We were thinking Yellowstone or somewhere equally stunning. Any suggestions as to where to go and what the access and costs involved would be?

West Yellowstone is a good base and plenty of accommodation to choose from.
Obviously superb fishing and stunning scenary.
Flights will be your biggest expense.

A great shop and they have lodgings listed on there web site including camp sites. Not afilliated but have used them in the past and they are nice folks.

Yellowstone in summer is hard to beat. I did my honeymoon their 25 years ago this February, and I will never forget it. Of course, it is different in winter, and I did not fish, but it was fantastic. It can be rather crowded in summer.

One bit of advice, respect the fact that it is not Disneyland, and you CAN get hurt if you do not take good advice about bears, etc. People think of bison as peaceful and benign but they are huge, and you cannot outrun them. People will get right up in their faces, taking pictures, and get between a mother and her calf, and get themselves in trouble.

Not knowing the length of your stay, one other good option is Southern Montana is just a short drive to the north.

I'll second that.....or keep driving North to Southern Alberta ......lots of options.....its almost endless, good luck!

and to the South you have the North Platte which is being very kind to me just now.
