Legend is on a distinguished road
Default Casa Vieja Lodge -

For immediate release:

PUERTO SAN JOSE, Guatemala - August 3, 2011 – Casa Vieja Lodge today announced the addition of Capt. David Salazar and Juan Cruz Anon to its Guatemalan management staff.

Capt. David Salazar will be director of fleet operations. Dave has over fifteen years experience in the charter business, ten of those years in Guatemala. Capt. Salazar was the owner and skipper of the Yellowfin (38’ Topaz), one of Fins ‘n Feathers top gameboats. Capt. Salazar later moved to the Man O War (38’ Norseman) and is presently the owner of the Spindrift (38’ Stolper) and Bird's Nest (58’ Viking). Capt. Salazar comes from a family of fishermen and at a very young age got his first professional captains job. His outstanding seamanship, knowledge of the area and his passion for billfishing make him a top choice for both novice and experienced anglers alike. Capt. Salazar has won numerous billfishing tournaments throughout the world as both angler and captain. “I’m looking forward to seeing many old clients and friends and making plenty of new ones this season” said Capt. Salazar.

Juan Cruz Anon will be the executive chef and director of hospitality at the Casa Vieja Lodge. Juan earned the prestigious “Le Grand Diplome de Cuisine e Pattiesserie” from Le Cordon Bleu in Paris and has been the executive chef for fine restaurants, cruise ships and resorts worldwide for over 19 years. Juan was recently the executive chef and owner of “The French Press,” an award winning restaurant in Vail, Colorado. Juan is also an avid sportsman and hunter who has travelled extensively throughout the globe in search of his quarry. He recently worked closely with the top fly fishing clubs in Colorado helping them develop their travel programs. Juan is fluent in English, Spanish, French, Italian & Portuguese - so international clients will have no problems aboard our gameboats or at the lodge.

“I’m proud to be partnering with Dave and Juan this upcoming season; No other sportfishing lodge in the world has this type of billfishing and hospitality experience," said Jim Turner.

Casa Vieja Lodge is one of the world’s premier sportfishing lodges with the most experienced captains and mates in the Western Hemisphere. Casa Vieja's Sportfishing Fleet has earned recognition as the worlds top tagging and releasing gameboats year after year. Its modern bilingual sportfishing fleet has also been a pioneer in introducing the most anglers to fly fishing for billfish in the world. Casa Vieja Lodge
