Default Fly Fishing in India?

Wondered if anyone can help,

I have a friend who is moving to Bangalore for a new job and would interested in any advice/experience of fly fishing in India. Internal flights are cheap so anywhere in India would be viable.

A Google search reveals a number of guides based around the Himalayas that seem to offer a number of services but it would be great to speak to people whom have experienced it.

Many thanks in advance,

Ben

Hi - cannot really help you because, despite having taken my kit to India, our holiday coincided with late monsoon rains, so no real chance of fishing, apart from an hour on a lake in Kerala. Rivers were in spate and some lakes unfishable owing to flooding/pollution etc.

However, Chandan at RGSaga was helpful before we left and I see that there are links on RG Saga-Fly Tying Tools,Fly Fishing equipment,Fishing tackles & Fishing Gears to two Himalayan guiding sites. Worth a try perhaps in the absence of any other response!

I lived in the bangalore area for a while. There is trout fishing in small rivers not too far from there in the nilgri hills of tamil nadu. Its in the deep south of the western ghats. There is also a lake where you can cast to trout near there. Other than that ther eis probably good saltwater flyfishing in the maldieves and andaman islands. Ive been to the andaman islands a few times and there is a lot of fish swimming around there.
Other than that there are plenty places in the himalayas including kashmier with quality flyfishing for large brown and rainbow trout. As well as masheer.
there are giant low land river masheer at a special fishery south of bangalore that is catch and release but I dont think many have tried to flyfish for them.
