Our fall fishing has ended with the onset of a large winter storm. Colder temperatures for the next few months will limit fishing opportunities to ice free rivers. The local spring creeks produce great fishing year round and are our destination of choice for
winter fly fishing in Montana.
Spring creeks like DePuy's, Nelson's and Armstrong's are open year round. DePuy's even has some heated fishing huts which provide a nice option for warming up or having lunch. Most of the winter fishing is limited to nymphs, but warmer days, especially later in the winter produce midge hatches and good dry fly fishing (later February and March are great for this).
