Common Green Grasshopper (Omocestus Viridulus)

Lots of these in the grass beside the loch. Taken on the woodside at Hillend.

bit greener, you will find colouration varies according to the "greeness" of the surroundings, if the environment isnt so green then the insect will be conspicous and eaten, over time you observe natural selection at work, the ones that blend into the environment better get to breed and pass on the colouration and patternation that suits the area.
