Looks like Burl Ives has invited them to the "Ugly Bug Ball"

C'mon lets crawl, to the ugly bug ball!


Last photo looks like caterpillars? lots of green caterpillars about yesterday!

Hi FS, they're probably chironomid larvae. Eleven sub species and more species than you can shake a stick at -

This picturefrom the Afon Cych shows that some species can hang on to stones in the fastest water -

Nice one Mostyn Not sure if caterpillars live under water tho

Thanks col. The one part of the river bed was covered in these things and looked just like the above photo. They were all in fast water and just above a drop off into a pool
