recently while out on a boat at ringstead i noticed a spider like insect waddling along one of the seats on closer inspection it looked very much like a stick insect i was wondering weather we have a native species of stick insects in england, it had a elongated abdomen which thinned out towards the end into a point it was about 2-3 inches long

i didnt get any pics of it tho any info would be dandy cheers

No native species, but three NZ species have become naturalised:

that looks alot like it altho its abdomin is abit wider than the one i found maybe one was a male and the other a female?

Have a Google Image search for Water Measurer, they seem to vary quite a bit.
