Thumbs up Blue Winged Olive

She is - without any doubt whatsoever - a BWO, sometimes called 'the sherry spinner' Serratella ignita carrying her distinctive green egg ball.

Nice shots of the egg sphere actually.

There was a thread on the subject last month: Blue winged olive thread

P.S. Welcome to the Forum.

Hi Ephemerella,
Thanks for sorting that out for me, I sort of only had the idea that BWO were only fond on chalk streams but having checked up in a few books I see that there are quite a common species. as you can see from my log in name the fly was seen on the R. Clwyd in North Wales.

Having looked at "Trout Fly Recognition" JG & "Matching the Hatch" POR I take it that this is a B-W-O Male SpinnerClick the image to open in full size.
