Going mainly by the forewings, no hind wings, I thought he could be a Lake Olive imago Cloeon similie.

Yes an old male from the eye colour.

Have you eliminated Heptagenia longicauda? I'm sure I've seen an image with the exact eye colour somewhere. Also called 'Yellow May Spinner' as would the recently re-classified
Kageronia fuscogrisea http://www.ephemeroptera.pwp.blueyon.../revisions.pdf although more common in Irish fast streams.

I would have thought highly unlikely

'Heptagenia longicauda was first recorded in 1868 in Britain near Reading (Berkshire) on the Kennet and Holybrook Canal, and then in 1904 at Staines in Middlesex. The last record in Britain was from the River Wey, between Tilford and Elstead, in Surrey in 1933. There have been no further records despite searches in the River Wey and the Thames catchment. The species has been widely recorded in Europe but not from Fennoscandia.'
