Default Cinnamon beetle or small sedge ?

Can anyone help please. There has been a hatch (or blow on of terrestials) of a small ladybird like beetle / fly recently on a lake where I fish. It is about half the size of a ladybird, flies about just above the surface film and is cinnamon in colour. When one comes flying past the boat, it seems to have small yellowish tips to its wings. It's a tubby little fellow and the trout really like them! The hatch / blow on was in a silty reedy area and happens at any time of the day. Should have taken photos etc but I'm sure there is someone on here who will recognise the description I think the hatches have nearly finised now, but I'd like to prepare for next year
