Default Novice on the learning curve! What's this?

Can someone enlighten me? I'm pretty new to the Entomology of river and I'm slowly getting to grips with the basics. This little fella landed on me recently - can someone tell me what it is?

Thanks
Joe

Thanks for the identification! The camera is a panasonic lumix FT1 - it's a tough, waterproof compact but it does take cracking shots and has a very good macro setting! Takes HD video too so ideal for fishing!

How about this one chaps? I had to blow this shot up a little as this fella was pretty small, but boy, there were a lot of them!

thanks. So, pardon my very obvious ignorance, but what am I looking for to separate these insects into basic groups? I'm guessing wings and tails! I'd be grateful for some advice or info on the basic 'family traits' as it were!

Yes. Often refered to as the 'Sherry Spinner'.

Three tails, not two like the true olives, the largish red eyes show the one photographed is a male.
