Default Name this caddis! Answer: Grouse Wing Caddis (Mystacides longicornis)

Ok Sunday night punters who didn't fly away for the long weekend, who wants to be a millionaire? Ok no prize money but these were the order of the day this evening. One centimetre long.

I reckon that's a Grouse Wing, Mystacides longicornis.

Very long antennae, big red eyes and yellow brown wings. Notable for palps that stick out to the side.

Great photo. Sedges are prety hard to photograph indoors, they seem to have one hell of a constitution and won't stay still for more than a few seconds even after a spell in the cooler.

I agree with Mystacides longicornis. When I measured the length it was the whole body so wing length is circa 8mm. Amazing thing is they don't look this colour when you see them flying around. They appear larger and a simple light brown. Cheers guys.
