we havent had a put a name to this fly for a while. If you know it straight away, then lets wait and see what the guys who are just starting to get used to guide books and keys come up with.
It was caught tonight, there where thousands of them,sorry about scale but its a pretty small fly.

It's alittle blurry but i think there is enough there to get it.

I'm not very good at entomology. I've never been able to get past the 'swat first, ask questions later' phase, by which time it's usually a green splodge.

Is it a wasp?

Is it a size 16?

Ive no idea.....but i would prob catch on a blue dun when they are about
