For sure - tradition has it that something with hot orange in it is good when they are on
Daphnia. Dunkeld, kingfisher butcher, Hardy's gold butcher were all Leven stalwarts and the Leven fish were always big
Daphnia feeders. I guess today's equivalent is an orange blob
If there is substance to it, it could just be that it is a trigger due to the crustacean pigment being detected by the fish, even though we struggle to see it until we put the lobster in a pan of boiling water
Could just as easily be a load of tosh.
Watch out for fish rising that seem to be uncatchable on dries - they can be feeding on
Daphnia that is so high in the water, the fish break the surface as they go through it. I've been fooled by that one a few times
