Default Sedge Ident ?

Hi Guys

This HUGE sedge was on my car at the River last night, ive not seen them this big before ? All the ones seen before are much smaller.

The Fly in front is tied on a Kamasan B400 size 12 to give you scale

Looks more like a Large Cinnamon, Potamophylax latipennis.

Although they are difficult to tell apart

The body colour would help. Greyish-green in the Cinnamon and orange-brown to greenish-brown in the Caperer, according to Goddard's Guide. It is a bit late for the Red Sedge I would have thought.

Tricky isn't it !

I have actually got a Cinnamon in a little bottle here I found on the front door at the weekend off the River Irwell. It's the biggest I have ever seen.
