Default Identification

Hi

The pictures below are pretty poor, but I noticed this little critter floating down the Escley in Wales on Saturday.

I'm a newcomer to UK fly life, recently brought Lapsley & Bennett's Pocket Guide, and the 'closest' match appears to be Baetis fuscatus (Pale watery)?

Grateful for any assistance and any pointers as to what you would use as an imitation?

I would go for either a March Brown Male Spinner (Rhithrogena germanica) or a Large Dark Olive Male Spinner (Baetis rhodani).

Sticking my neck out I would say it is the March Brown.

Thanks Fishtales. Aren't March Brown quite rare in Wales?

I wouldn't have thought so as there are plenty of stony upland rivers about and they are common in Scotland.
