Default Mayfly or Blue Winged Olive

Hello everyone, not a brilliant entomologist, so would like some advice.
Had a very large hatch of these this afternoon.

Sorry about the picture quality.
Some anglers tell me they are Mayfly, some say Blue Winged Olives ?
These had 3 tails not 2.
The venue where I saw this hatch was 90 acre Errwood reservoir in the High Peak area of Derbyshire.
Also I thought Blue winged Olives were not common on reservoirs, but prolific on rivers and streams.
Any info greatly appreciated.

It's definitely a Mayfly, though it looks like Ephemera vulgata to me. They are slightly darker in colour than E.danica.

Could be actually.
The original photo doesn't show the body markings too well.
I think if there are distinct markings are on all upper body sections it's vulgata but if they're a bit less distinct (or missing) it's E. dancia.
Someone will no doubt correct me though!

Cheers guys, your posts are greatly appreciated.
Am I right in saying the Mayflies seen today would mate, return to the water, lay eggs, then die, the new nymphs burrow in silt and return in two years time ?

Now I'm lost... Is a BWO not part of the Mayfly family, or is the BWO and Mayfly part of a bigger family (sorry to show my ignorance )
