hi olseadog-this week still mainly dry fly in afternoons/evening with massive hatches when sun gets through!-dunns,sedges,hawthorn & gnats the killer dries.in the morning the sub surface action is coming from buzzers, grhe, montanna & damsels....in the week i do have an excavator running constructing the 2nd lake-for specimen fish and also making the car park so there is some noise, but its not affecting the fish feeding in any way! or the insects hatching!evenings are nice and quiet thoughthe work is going on for another week or two but then all done..hope to see you soon

Default mayfly hatch, hawthorn daddies and dunns

a very good week at thornwood all surface action with rainbows up to 8lbs and browns up to 5lb caught on dries, bigger fish showing in evening rise to above flies.very hard today as so hot and fish went deeper for most of the day but went crazy after 7 oclock with hatches of virtually every fly from lake and hedges.specimen lake now dug and awaiting water...good mayfly hatches the last few day with damsels appearing today

Default catch & return trial....

after much thought have decided to run a c&r trial to see if it improves, with a couple of minor areas not to be fished c&r-the shallower end where marginal water heats up quickest-THIS SEEMS THE PROBLEM AREA WHEN BEING UNHOOKED...but 80% of lake is fine if done responsibly at deeper swims-will be a very minor price adjustment for C&R also..phone for details

As I am a non footie-fan , I would rather be fishing, so I intend to come up this afternoon, and fish into the evening.
What time are you staying open 'til ?

Also, what is working when it is bright, and the fish go deep? I need something to do before the evening rise starts !!

Cheers,
Gary.
