I'll kick this off.... Keen to hear from more experienced users of this venue.

Fished here Sunday 25th July. Tough day. Surface activity in the cloudy morning in the middle of Chingley Deep but the start of the Bewl Valley Sailing Club racing put an end to that. A water temp of 20.6 degrees and brighter light meant the afternoon was very dead. I only had one hook up all day (and lost it!), ignoring the two perch I caught. I was drifting with my new Di5 line and never flet confident I was doing things right. Did not see anyone else land a fish except for one near the cages.

Rightly or wrongly, I think the water temp is just too high for good fishing. It's now risen to 21.1 degrees at a depth of 2 metres (Tuesday).

I think I'll wait for a substantial drop before heading back.

Hi Steve,
I fished Bewl today 5/9/10 very light winds from NE direction in the morning, fished floating line all day a few fish moving on top. Most of our small group caght on Claret Hoppers. Wind picked up strongly in the afternoon and the cloud cover vanished! and good news is the water is now cooler and nice and clear.

If you get the chance the fishing here is superb at the momoent. While the lodge staff will tell you its boobies on the floater I found Nymphs on the washing line on a midge tip to be far more productive. I released 20 fish in 4 hours and then stopped as it was too easy. Most came to a size 14 brown palmer or a size 12 Daiwl Bach . The good areas are the main bowl and arouns the cages but you need to drift to cover the fish as they are in small pods of 4 to 6 fish moving randomly after the fry shoals.

Cheers
