Fishery Headline: Colourful catch for Alan
The trout have been feeding in the mid to higher layers this week. Bait anglers have had the most success when ledgering with a long trace or float fishing at depths of 3-6 feet. Fly rods using floating or slow sinking lines have also recorded some good catches.
The good numbers of 3 and 4lb fish being caught has continued this week with fish being recorded from all areas of the reservoir. Mr Alan Marsay from Skinningrove decided to have a change from Mackerel fishing and enjoyed a great day fishing at the east end of the reservoir. Alan using a worm and Orange PowerBait cocktail landed 2x 3lb rainbows1x 4lb rainbow, 1x 2 lb blue and 1x 2lb brown to complete a colourful and memorable catch.
Mr Martin Skelton from Loftus fishing the west end using Chartreuse PowerBait landed a fine 4lb 8oz fish. Mr Colin Greenwell from Nunthorpe fishing at the dog leg used a combined float and ledger rig baited with worm to land a fine 4lb 4oz blue.
Regular Mr Jeff Walsh from Stockton managed to land the biggest fish of the week a excellent 5lb 8oz brown which he tempted with Sweetcorn at the east end of the reservoir. Jeff also took another fine 3lb 8oz rainbow to end his day with a good brace of trout.
