Fishery Headline: Cat takes the cream
The so far milder than expected conditions have seen water temperatures hold up which in turn is giving anglers some excellent late season sport. The rod average during October is the highest we have ever recorded at this time of the year. Paul Dunn using an intermediate line above the sailing club netted some superb fish this week using a Cat’s Whisker, on Sunday Paul had his best day of the week enjoying some fine sport catching 19 fish keeping 8 for 19lb. Fly anglers are recommended to stick to the basic tactic of intermediate line and lures with a Cat’s Whisker being the number one choice. All areas are producing good sport but if the wind is light the bank west of the sailing club has been exceptional. If the wind is strong Hunter House offers both protection and great sport from the south bank.
Multi bait anglers found conditions ideal with fish well spread from the dam wall up to Hunter House. This has resulted in almost all anglers leaving the banks with a good catch of fine conditioned feisty trout providing some consistent and exciting sport.
