Default Pagham Harbour To Be Taken Over By RSPB

Management of a West Sussex nature reserve is to be handed over to the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB) by the end of the month. The 1,500 acre Pagham Harbour reserve, visited by more than 200,000 people a year, has been managed by West Sussex County Council (WSCC) since 1964.

I have held a permit to fish inside the harbour for ages and this is the best for mullet and Bass.
Does anyone know what the RSPB plan to do with allowing fishing in the harbour?
I can understand concerns regarding regular angling and loss of tackle, but SWFF leaves nothing behind!
This is a bit worrying :-(

RSPB site's details, no mention of fishing at all.
Ought to still be able to fish the spit though, don't see why not?

In general, when a large area like this comes under the management of one or other conservation bodies/groups/societies, traditional land use practices are written into the lease.
It may be however that you have to apply for an annual permit to fish within the boundaries.
Check out the terms with your local authority (west sussex), for factual terms of handover.
Dont rely on info from R.S.P.B!
